Our business started out of the desire for me to stay home with my daughter. I was working in the educational system as a sign language interpreter. After the birth of our first daughter, Big Z, I did not want to return to work. I wanted home with my baby!
With the support of my husband, ChildOrganics was started. We were interested in attachment parenting and were passionate about cloth diapering and natural childbirth. We became childbirth instructors shortly thereafter with The Bradley Method. We also believe strongly in living as consciously as possible, making sustainable and healthy choices for our family.

In 2006 we added a new member to our family. This pregnancy and birth was very much different than the natural, peaceful pregnancy I had with my first daughter. Our sweet baby girl was born through Cesarean and immediately taken to the NICU. She was born with severe Hydrocephalus and Dandy Walker Malformation. Her head was the size of a three month old at birth. She was shunted on her second day out of the womb. She continued to stay in the NICU for the next two months. In addition to her original diagnosis, she also is diagnosed with Bilateral Microphthalmia (blindness), Choanal Atresia and GERD. She also had a feeding tube inserted before we were able to take her home because of sucking and swallowing issues. Our focus in life changed a lot, we had more doctors than we ever imagined. This has made natural parenting more difficult, but not impossible. You may enjoy the article Attachment Parenting in the NICU on our blog, or learning more about Bella and her special needs. Sadly, Bella was only with us a short 16 months, she died in 2007.
We were blessed a few years later to have a healthy baby boy, Lil'Z. We had a beautiful home birth after a cesarean. Our little guy is now three years old. We spend our days homeschooling and making a lot of messes. You can find more of our adventures here including recipes, and a lot of playtime ideas.
